Bethel University
Bethel University in Tennessee is a private, not-for-profit university with a student body of over 6,500. In the 90s, the university was the first in the state to provide a computer to every full time student. It’s IBM Thinkpad Initiative has increased the enrollment numbers over the years. This initiative has also enhanced the success rates in the school’s adult degree programs. The same initiative enables students today to receive either a Thinkpad or iPad on enrollment. The tuition fees of $16,000 per semester is all inclusive. Students take full ownership of the computers and tablets, and the university does not provide these on the lease basis.
Chatham University
Chatham University in Pittsburgh places great emphasis on the need to preserve the environment and develop women’s leadership. The university has received several awards and recognitions for its efforts to promote a sustainable environment. To promote equal education for all, Chatham University began its laptop program in 2010. All incoming freshmen are entitled to receive a 13” MacBook Pro. The students are required to bring these laptops to their classes. These computers are given to the students on lease for which they are billed $350 per month. When they graduate, the laptops become their property.

Home to 7,186 students, ICDC College has two campuses in the Los Angeles area. The college offers its students the option to attend classes on-campus, online or in a hybrid manner. With over 20 career training programs, a vast variety of resources and a friendly faculty to help students every step of the way, ICDC sets itself apart. Each online student at ICDC is provided with a Windows-based laptop. The cost of this computer is covered in the tuition fee. These laptops enable students to gain 24/7 access to all course materials including e-books. MS Office is pre-installed in the laptops for convenience of the students.
Wake Forest University
Located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Wake Forest University has a wide variety of academic departments under its five schools. To facilitate the process of quality education, WFU provides its students with ThinkPad X1 Carbon, a Lenovo laptop that is given on orientation. The students have the option to upgrade this computer after paying additional charges. An additional protection option is also offered to the students to cover for accidental spills or other damages.
Full Sail University
Full Sail University offers on-campus and online degrees in programs relating to the world of entertainment and media at various levels, including associate, bachelor and master levels. To facilitate the process of learning, the university has created an atmosphere that emphasizes on web-based learning experience. Each student receives a laptop through Full Sail’s Project LaunchBox. The laptop is an Apple MacBook Pro, equipped with all the necessary interactive tools. Interactive tools include face time with classmates and instructors, industry software and hardware and tools required for creating multimedia projects.
Northwest Missouri State University
The university offers more than 124 undergraduate programs and with a student to faculty ratio of 22: 1, students receive individual attention from teachers. In addition, all full-time undergraduates and graduate students with at least 9 credit hours, receive a laptop for their use while enrolled at the university. The laptop provided is an HP EliteBook 840 G1 Notebook PC (Ultrabook).
Seton-Hill University
With over 2500 students (both online and on-campus), 80 undergraduate programs and a 95% career/graduate school placement rate, Seton Hill has ranked high on various publications. To ensure that its students get the most out of their educational experience, Seton Hill University provided iPad Mini to all full-time students enrolling in 2013-2014. In addition, all full-time first year undergraduates received a 13" Macbook Air. The students are allowed to use these laptops for their personal purposes as well and become owners of these iPads and laptops when they graduate.
Centenary College
Located less than seventy-five miles from New York City, Centenary College is home to 1,900 students and has a student to teacher ratio of 18:1. It equips its students with the essential tools for dynamic leadership, responsible citizenship and the pursuit of diverse careers. In keeping with its student centered education philosophy, the college provides all first year students with either a Toshiba or MacBook Pro laptop computer. The computers are provided free of cost and enable students to use their student IDs to login to the college’s online learning community.
Regis College
A small, private Catholic college founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, Regis College has long upheld its high quality standards of education and has received several awards and accolades for it as well. As of 2014, Regis College has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2014-2016, meeting the criteria for innovation, leadership and educational excellence. Under its iPad initiative, the college supplies 1,250 undergraduates with an iPad. Students, who already own iPads, are encouraged to use the ones provided by the college, to ensure consistency. The cost of the computer is integrated in the tuition fees. Graduating students have the option of keeping their iPads but students who transfer or leave the school before they graduate are required to return the iPads.
Rochester College
Founded in 1959, Rochester College has over 1100 students from 19 states and 5 foreign countries. The college places great emphasis on high quality education and facilitating the students in every way possible. With this aim in mind, RC provides its students with laptops. Freshmen and transfer students with less than 30 incoming credits, have the option of choosing from an iPad or a MacBook Pro. After being issued the computers, the students are required to complete six semesters of attendance. Students leaving prior to fulfilling this commitment are billed on a pro-rata basis.
Morrisville State College
Morrisville State College offers a vast variety of programs to students with varied educational interests and career objectives. In keeping with its aim of providing the best facilities to its student body, Morrisville began its ThinkPad University partnership with IBM in 1998, becoming the first of the State University of New York’s 64 campuses to supply students with personal laptop computers. The computer it offers is Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga; students may also get Apple iPad Mini. The cost of the laptop amounts to nearly $1,599 and is included in the fee.
Stevens Henager College
Established in 1891, Stevens Henager College is an accredited institution offering bachelors, masters and associate degrees, both online and on 12 of its campuses. With a mission of enabling students to achieve success in career oriented programs, Stevens-Henager goes all the way to ensure the best educational facilities for its campus community. Among these facilities is their laptop providing initiative. With numerous online degrees offered by the college, such an initiative benefits the students in more than one ways. Each student is given a laptop on enrollment in the freshmen year. The laptop must be returned to the university within 30 days if the student leaves without graduating. For the graduating students, the laptops become their property.
Ursinus College
Established in the late 1860s, Ursinus College is a liberal arts college offering a wide variety of majors and minors. In line with its aim of providing the finest quality education, Ursinus College provides its students with laptops. Every new student is issued a laptop during orientation and is entitled to receive an upgrade at least once before graduation. The laptops given are Dell’s Latitude E6340. The computers are leased on behalf of the school from Dell and students are given the option of acquiring them when they graduate.
West Liberty University
Established in 1837 as West Liberty Academy, West Liberty University is considered West Virginia’s oldest institution of higher education. The university aims to provide its students with the opportunity for a high quality education at various levels. With this aim in mind, it offers its students the best facilities and services, including laptops. The laptops are Windows based or Apple iPads and they are given to the students during their orientation. Ownership of the device is transferred to the students when they graduate.
Widener University
Widener University is a private, not-for-profit institute with a culturally diverse student body. Founded in 1821, Widener is ranked among the nation’s top universities for civic engagement. With a great emphasis on educational advancement, Widener believes in providing its students with a positive educational environment. The university provides students with a number of specialized services and support systems including laptops. Newly enrolled students that meet a certain criteria (a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher is required and a SAT score of 1250 or greater, or an ACT composite score of 28) receive a free laptop. As for engineering students, they must also have passed at least one course each in calculus and science.
Long Island University
With more than 500 undergraduate, graduate, doctoral degree programs and certificates, LIU is an institution that has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the American Psychological Association Commission on Accreditation and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, among other organizations. In line with its aim of educational advancement, the university provides a free iPad to full-time, freshly enrolled students who fulfill the admission criteria, along with some other requirements.
Southern Nazarene University
With a distinguished teaching faculty, a well integrated and learning oriented campus community and a challenging academic environment, Southern Nazarene University is certainly a place unlike any other. To facilitate the process of greater learning opportunities, SNU has a laptop program in place. Through this, freshmen are offered their choice of a new Fujitsu Lifebook PC, or a 13” or 15” MacBook Pro. The cost of these computers is factored into the tuition fees and is paid gradually over a period of four years. Upon graduation, the laptops become the property of the students.
