Kendall College is a leading post-graduate degree awarding institution situated at the heart of Chicago, Illinois, U.S. The university was founded in 1934 as Evanston Collegiate Institute, but the name was later changed to honor the founders of the Washington National Company, who financially supported the institution since it was founded. The university provides students with a cost-effective and convenient way of acquiring accredited degree programs in culinary arts, hospitality, education and business.
Accreditation Status
Kendall College is a nationally accredited institution that is certified by the Higher Learning Commission to award undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Kendall University is also a permanent member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. All courses offered by the School of Culinary Arts are certified by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accreditation Commission. Furthermore, degree programs offered by the School of Education are duly approved by the Illinois State Board of Education, and count towards the Illinois Type 4 Teacher Certification.
Degree Programs Offered and Student Enrollment
Kendall College has over three thousand students enrolled in one of the many degree programs offered through its campus situated in Downtown Chicago. The college offers several undergraduate degree programs in early childhood education, psychology, business, hospitality management, and culinary arts. The university has been awarding business degrees since the 1970s, but it wasn’t until 2007 that the School of Business was created to administer various business degree programs offered by the college. The School of Culinary Arts was formed in 1987, following which the colleges started to offer one their flagship degree programs, Bachelors of Arts in Restaurant and Hotel Management. In recent years, the college has gone into partnership with prestigious schools like the Les Roches International School of Hotel Management and Glion Institute of Higher Education to offer student exchange programs to culinary arts students.
