Many plumbers are self-employed while others working in construction or at power plants and water treatment facilities.
The salaries for these workers may vary with location, experience and area of expertise. According to the BLS, the median annual income of plumbers in 2012 was $49,140. Plumbers work full time and often have to work on emergency assignments.
